Charlee Wild’s Wildlife Photography WORKSHOP REVIEWS.

  • “The South Africa Photography Workshop was an incredible introduction to Africa. The experience and the people I met continue to provide endless inspiration, both personally and professionally. Charlee’s passion is unmatched. And that passion is reflected in the students who seek to learn from her. The talent and enthusiasm of everyone on the trip left a lasting impression, and the community built around this workshop was one of the best things about the whole experience. This trip was a perfect balance of photography and conservation education. While being able to focus entirely on all things photography, we also got to learn directly from conservationists about their work and mission for protecting African wildlife; something that you would be hard-pressed to find in other workshops. Even though I am a novice, this added conservation aspect is helping me inform my photography work as I move forward. For example, I don’t just have nice pictures of wild dogs or lions, I have portraits of these threatened species with stories behind them. As creative, finding this kind of meaning in your work is everything; I’m so grateful for this workshop’s takeaways.”

  • “A workshop with Charlee is unlike any trip you could experience on your own. With a focus on conservation and ethics Charlee makes sure her trips not only teach valuable skills in photography but inspire you to get involved beyond just taking a photo. While we are still in uncertain times with the pandemic and all else going on in the world, Charlee and the team have streamlined their processes so much that even when complications occur, things still feel very organized and safe. Our recent trip to South Africa provided some exclusive and unforgettable opportunities to work with some of the world's most revered wildlife while simultaneously creating lifelong friendships. A trip with Charlee goes so far beyond just the basics of photography and instead creates an experience you'll never forget. I can't wait for another trip in the future.”

  • “My wife and I participated in the South Africa Workshop and were blown away by how incredible everything was. You should know that I like to take photos, but my wife loves wildlife, so we were thrilled when Charlee said (even before the trip) that we would both love it... and she was correct. Honestly, it is a little difficult to put into words how wonderful the trip was because every day brought another amazing opportunity to experience South Africa and all it has to offer. From watching wild dog puppies and tracking cheetahs to rhino conservation and eating incredible food, the trip was electric. Charlee's style and expertise allowed for great discussions and camaraderie within the group and there was an ease that lasted the entire trip. Each day would end and we'd think "there's no way we can top that" but then the next day came and we did. And it happened all the time. Then there's the professionals she brought in to talk and teach us about lion, cheetah, rhino, and wild dog conservation efforts happening in South Africa. Charlee's passion for conservation and environmental change was on display through her work with these organizations, so to have that embedded into a workshop like this was an absolute pleasure. I can tell you that my wife and I would take another workshop/trip with her in a heartbeat. It was an amazing adventure and we can't wait to see where she's going next.... so we can go too.”

  • “Attending Charlee’s photography & conservation workshop in South Africa was the most incredible experience. We spent time with leading conservation specialists, got hands-on exclusive experiences with non-profits, learnt so much from Charlee on how to create our own personal style, and made the BEST memories out in the bush. Charlee has such incredible photography, post processing and business knowledge that you’re bound to learn from no matter your skill level. It was truly the trip of a lifetime with people I will now cherish forever!”

  • “I had the pleasure of going on a workshop with Charlee & two other workshop leaders to the Isle of Skye & all I can say is wow. Charlee’s knowledge of photography & the way she teaches is so visceral & real it would honestly be hard not to learn something from her. You can see her passion for photography as an art & as a business, & it really shows in her work & how she approached the workshop. She was always willing to step aside & help on an individual basis, as well as lead group sessions. Her knowledge of social media & the business side of photography was incredible as well & really helped me get started & make moves in my social media game. I highly recommend attending a workshop with Charlee as I’m sure you can gain experience & knowledge & she can definitely help take your photography to the next level.”

  • “Charlee has become one of my favorite wildlife photographers due to the emotion she depicts in her photos. This class was a very helpful guide in settling an internal debate I've been having in regards to realism vs emotion in my editing process. It helped cement the idea that rules are made to be broken and while realism and following guidelines may be what some photographers are seeking, there's just as much merit in doing what looks good to you and finding your unique style. I also appreciated the focus on importance of conservation in wildlife photography and respecting the world and animals you are shooting. We are a visitor in their world and often people forget that. If you are just getting started in photography or find yourself stuck in a rut, this workshop is a great resource. Charlee showcases her go to gear, planning, safety, conservation, and gives a look into her editing process.”

  • “Charlee’s pragmatic approach to gear combined with an emphasis on developing an individual style and the field experience to know how to photograph wildlife safely and responsibly makes this a great resource for beginners and experts alike. I really enjoyed the emphasis on the ethics of wildlife photography. I feel like it’s an incredibly important topic. As folks pursue wildlife photography as a hobby or job, hopefully in part to raise awareness about how important it is to protect it, we need to make sure we’re encouraging practices that don’t negatively impact these animals, especially since they cannot advocate for themselves in the same way human subjects can.“

  • “Often during online photography workshops, there is too much of a focus on technical proficiency instead of creating art based on personal style. Charlee breaks that mold and does a fantastic job at sharing insights into finding your own style and editing images to match. It’s clear she is passionate about conservation. The post processing section alone is worth the cost of the workshop as there is something for every photography regardless of skill level.”

  • “I’ve been searching for this exact workshop since I returned from Alaska in October. I've also recently taken up hunting/tracking and I find animal behavior completely fascinating. This was a great motivator to take my photography to the next level. Thanks so much Charlee! The conservation section was a nice added bonus to the course. (Hooray no pebble mine!)”

  • “This workshop was absolutely fantastic. I feel so lucky to have gotten an inside look at Charlee's process and how she's developed her style. The videos following her on the photoshoot in Alaska are absolutely breathtaking, they gave me chills. The workshop was filled with so many great tips on how to be a mindful wildlife photographer as well, which is really important for our planet. After having finished this workshop, I definitely feel inspired.”
